Frequently asked Questions by Participants

The event starts at 08:00 in the morning and runs until 21:00 in the evening.

No, it does not: the event will end at 21:00 on the first day and continue at 08:00 in the morning on the next day.

The two days offer a varied programme for you to enjoy. Please go to herHACK.ch/info for more information and to discover it.

No, it is not: the participants will need to be physically present during the 2 days of the event.

#herHACK is a unique concept based on the creation of a safe place for women – including well-being activities and childcare services.

This allows the participants to discover and have a unique experience about hacking, the tech world and raise awareness about sustainability.

It is more about creation, thinking, designing and networking than the usual hackathon where people don’t sleep and code the whole night. 

Yes, you can: the event on the first day ends at 21:00. We have special deals with a hotel and youth hostel for you to benefit from a lower price for accommodation. We look forward to seeing you on the next day.

WE STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST PARTICIPATING ONLY PARTIALLY. THE HACKATHON IS RUNNING FOR 2 DAYS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF YOU FIND A TEAM READY TO ACCEPT THIS SITUATION IN ADVANCE. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NO REPLACEMENT WILL BE POSSIBLE.

YES, IT IS OPEN TO MEN TOO. #HERHACK IS AN INCLUSIVE HACKATHON AND EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

Yes, you can. However, be aware that we might not be able to accommodate you in regard to childcare or dietary needs.

IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT ANY MORE TO OUR EVENT, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND LATEST 3 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT FOR LOGISTIC REASONS.

THE COMMITMENT FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND WILL BE DONATED TO A NON-PROFIT ASSOCIATION.

Once you have done so, you will receive an email in your inbox with the registration link to finalise it.

A team is composed of maximum 5 people.

NO, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FIND A TEAM BEFORE REGISTERING.

IF YOU WANT TO REGISTER WITH A COMPLETE TEAM, YOU CAN MENTION IT DURING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS AND YOU WILL BE SET UP DIRECTLY TOGETHER.

FOR THE ONES WHO DON’T HAVE TEAMMATES OR ARE IN AN INCOMPLETE TEAM, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT, TIME WILL BE SET ASIDE TO BUILD OR COMPLETE TEAMS, OR THE ORGANISERS MAY ALLOCATE YOU TO A TEAM.

PLEASE, BEFORE THE EVENT, BE AWARE OF THE TOPIC OF THE CHALLENGES SO IT GOES FASTER.

You will have the opportunity at the beginning of the event to find a team. if by then you do not have a team, the organisers will assign you to one. 

You will be able to meet all the participants registered before the event through Discord and its different channels on this platform. You will be able to create your team in advance and notify the #herHACK organisation about it.

Communication will be done through the Discord server. The link to the server will be sent via the #herHACK newsletter. You are automatically subscribed to this newsletter when you register for the #herHACK.

Techie:
a team that is techie is formed solely of people with a STEM background.

Yes, you can. The concept of #herHACK is a safe place for the participants to discover the tech industry and learn about hackathons.

The event is for everyone because it is more focused on designing, thinking and prototyping than the coding and hacking itself.

The programme on both days starts at 08:00 in the morning and will end on the next day at 21:00.

Unfortunately, it is an exclusive event for our participants. It is only open to people who have registered. 

Unfortunately, there will not be recordings.

No, it cannot. The solution is the legal property of the team.

The company must ask for the approval of the team first, and the team has the right to decline the company’s offer.

They can be. By participating in this event, you consent that pictures can be taken and that the organisers can use them. 

The challenges will be revealed on the discord server only a few hours before the start of the main event. However, high-level information about the challenges will be shared with the participants one week before the hackathon.

#herHACK offers childcare services during the time of the main event.

To benefit from this service, you must inform the #herHACK organisation and fill in some administrative papers to finalise your demand.

Travel and potential accommodation are at the expense of the participant.

#herHACK offers a Marketplace, where our partners will have a booth to present their company and are free to present job offers to the participants. 

In case you have allergies, please reach out to astrid@digitalswitzerland.com a few days before the event begins for logistic reasons. 

Yes, there will be. As a reminder, #herHACK is based on the UN SDGs and supports sustainable actions.

We recommend travelling by public transportation as parking is limited and ticket prices can get high. Unfortunately, we cannot offer free or reduced-price parking tickets.
