About the Hackathon
01 What is #herHACK?
Hackathons began in the late 1990s within the tech community as time-limited events aimed at fostering collaborative innovation. During a hackathon, participants form small teams and work intensively, often for 24-48 hours, to develop innovative projects or solutions based on a specific theme or challenge.
#herHACK is a distinctive type of hackathon, emphasising women’s participation and sustainability. Participants brainstorm ideas, design prototypes, write simple code, and present their final products to judges and a larger audience. The atmosphere is dynamic, marked by excitement, teamwork, and a focus on learning and networking. Pushing creative boundaries is crucial for successful hackathons, and at #herHACK, no prior knowledge is required!

- Date: 01 – 02 November 2024, 08:00 – 21:00 on both days
- Where: Eventforum Bern
- Who: 250 technology enthusiastic women (open to all genders) from all over Switzerland, 18 years and older
- Skills: An event for women who want to work together on a useful and creative solution to a challenge within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Event language: English
- Costs: 18 CHF donation to a non-profit organisation. The event includes food already
- Registration deadline: 23 October 2024 or as soon as we have allocated the 250 places

06 #herHACK, a unique hackathon
#herHACK is partnering up with incredible stakeholders to help and guide you within your professional path. If you are interested, join our “After #herHACK Life” programme. Here, you can benefit from a skill assessment, receive recommendations for the next steps in your career, and explore a wide range of recognised certifications. This programme will be only available for the participants who will register and be on-site during the 2-day hackathon.
Because of a too-low demand in the past editions, #herHACK will not be able to provide childcare services during the hackathon 2024.
